A Suitable Cage

It's very important to buy a suitable cage for bunny, as they will be homed during sunny or rainy days. I read some article online regarding the cage size for bunny before.
And of course for so called "long term investment", I bought quite a large size cage for Fatty. But you must make sure you have a space at your home to place the cage.

How to make sure or know whether they are comfortable in the cage ?

Here are some simple ways and tips to share :)

1.) The body size is at least 4 times smaller than the cage size. Look at Fatty at his cage on picture below. The cage is measured in 60cm x 46cm x 52cm. And with its body size of 30cm x 12cm, this should be much more fitting and comfortable to him. At least he can twist his shoulder and release his legs. Imagine if the cage size is small, he can't even sleep tight without the space. That's cruel !

2.) Don't forget you also need to include food and water into the cage. They cannot survive without this 2 basic needs !!

3.) Ventilation - they need to have fresh air. What if they are sleeping in the covered box, do you think they can breathe huh ?

4.) Make sure their door are not locked ! Fatty will open the door itself, whenever he know that if it's time to replenish his food and water, and when it's their playtime. So, don't lock the door ! Let them have their own time.

5.) Cleanliness is very important for them, as bunny always ensure they're clean all the time. I wash the cage EVERYDAY, else the odor will stick to them which make them so uncomfortable. I remember last year I went for one week trip to Taiwan, my sister only help to wash the cage twice on that week. Guess what ? Fatty and Blackie lost their weight for almost 1 kg !!!

6.) Do not put the cage direct to the sunlight or rain. But if you really have no choice to, make sure you covered the top of the cage.
